My friends up in little Rhode Island are doing big things again; this time it’s with their kids martial arts program!
From “0 to Hero”, so to Speak
Considering last year Black Diamond Mixed Martial Arts had no kids program to even speak of, the fact that they are having their first belt ceremony specifically for their kids this week is awesome! Excited about integrating elements of academic improvement, character development, and more, they already have their next belt ceremony date set as well. They’ll grow quickly I’m sure of it.
- Dan Faggella – Head Instructor of Black Diamond Kids Martial Arts – is all about developing ENTHUSIASM for learning in kids.
The Powerful Influence of the Martial Arts
Many gyms in the Maryland area focus intently on their kids programs because we believe that the younger you reach a child the more chance you have to positively affect them. We are also strong advocates of the idea that simply saying kids martial arts gives kids discipline and self-esteem and things like that is ridiculous…you have to actually present the martial arts in a way that does so (through instruction, story, and role modeling to start).
In addition to this, gyms also need ways of tracking the progression in these otherwise esoteric categories. Luckily for all the students at Black Diamond, the owner Dan Faggella actually has a Master’s degree in applied positive psychology; In other words, he learned exactly how to track and measure these seemingly un-trackable characteristics!
Parents in Rhode Island who are looking for some activity that will lead to awesome benefits like leadership, teamwork, self-esteem, self-motivation, and discipline need to check out Black Diamond MMA. The more Dan and co. grow their kids martial arts program and leadership program, the more confident I am that they will provide something for Rhode Islanders that will not be found anywhere else.
Moving Forward – A Memorable Message
Skills like these are not taught in school and rarely specifically emphasized in kids martial arts dojos… and that is why the Black Diamond Kids Martial Arts program will prove to be invaluable.
“Building Strong Kids is about Character Above All Else!” Combine that with solid self-defense and fitness, and in my opinion you have a recipe for success.
